Age categories applicable to the UCI Gravel World Series are defined by the rider’s age as of December 31 of the year of the qualification race. Riders who qualify for the World Championships in the following year and change age categories in that year automatically carry their qualification to the next age category, so they do not need to requalify in their new age category during the World Championship year. According to the rules of the UCI Gravel World Championships, medals and titles are awarded for men and/or women as soon as there is one rider registered in the respective 5-year age category. Elite riders from a UCI-registered team must always participate in the elite category. Elite riders with a national license may choose to compete in either the elite category or their respective age category but must make this choice before the race. Riders registering for the elite category can only qualify for the elite category at the UCI Gravel World Championships. Riders registering for the age categories can only qualify for the age categories at the UCI Gravel World Championships. If a rider who competed in the elite category fails to qualify in the elite category, they cannot claim qualification in their age category even if their finish time places them within the top 25% of their age category.
As the minimum age to participate in the UCI Gravel World Championships is 19 years, only riders born before December 31, 2006, are eligible to qualify for the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships. For events held in the same year immediately following the World Championships (October–December), riders who are 18 years old at the time of qualification may qualify, as they will turn 19 during the year of the 2025 World Championships.
Under the official qualification system for the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships, each UCI Gravel World Series event grants qualification rights to the UCI Gravel World Championships for riders finishing in the top 25% of their category. The 25% is calculated based on the number of starters in each age category, not the number of riders who completed the race.
Additionally, the top three riders in each official category automatically qualify for the World Championships, regardless of the number of starters in that age category. Riders must finish the race to secure qualificatio
The names of riders who qualify through the UCI Gravel World Series will be published on the UCI Gravel World Series website, and they will receive an official email from the UCI with an invitation to register for the UCI Gravel World Championships via the dedicated online registration portal.
